Derek Twigg MP has hailed the Labour government’s announcement of £75 million for end-of-life hospice care as a major step forward for the community.

Halton Haven Hospice and Claire House Children’s Hospice which both serve his constituents are among the more than 170 hospices across England to receive a share of the funding as part of the drive to improve end-of-life care, to deliver major upgrades and enhancements to facilities including separate family rooms, and communal lounges.

Claire House Children’s Hospice will receive £513,514.00 and Halton Haven £166,182.00.

Derek said: “I have long supported our local hospices who work tirelessly to provide the highest quality of palliative care to patients and their families, and seen first-hand the difference they make.

After more than a decade of under funding and neglect, this Labour government is delivering the biggest cash injection ever for these vital services. Halton Haven and Claire’s House support people from across our area and I welcome the brilliant news that together they will benefit from an almost £680,000 investment.”
