Cllr Pamela Wallace
Councillor for Central & West Bank Ward
My parents were Bob & Bet Jackson and I am the youngest of five children.
I went to West Bank County Primary and then Fairfield High School for girls, which merged with the boys school a year later.
My first job was at Max Bernstein’s Shirt factory on Hutchinson Street, and I have been a carer.
I had my first son when I was 19 and my youngest three years later. I have three granddaughters. I was married for 48 years to my husband Ged, who sadly passed away in 2023.
My hobbies are camping, crafts, reading and grandchildren.
I became involved in helping our community in the 1990s when homes were being changed into overcrowded private rented accommodation which brought with it antisocial behaviour, I was invited to a small meeting to tackle this problem. I somehow left the meeting as the Secretary. The Tenants & Residents Group we set up became an award winning group – West Bank Community Forum, a powerful group with hundreds of members. We acted as community advocates speaking on behalf of residents and breaking down barriers.
I won an award for our community garden supported by Groundworks. The garden is still there near the Promenade in West Bank.
I also established the first youth cafe in the country with Karen Turner and helped with volunteers. This group was supported by Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire Brigade.
I became the first female Councillor for the then named Riverside Ward in 2006. Boundary changes took place, and my ward is now named Central & West Bank, which covers a wide area, made up of parts of the old Kingsway, Appleton & Riverside wards.
My Council Appointments:
I am the Chair of the Regulatory Committee.
Chair Taxi Subcommittee & Chair Regulatory Subcommittee.
A member of the Audit & Governance Committee.
I have recently been inaugurated as the Deputy Mayor of Halton, a position I am honoured to have.
