Labour’s breakfast club plans in Halton Lea
A school in Halton Lea ward has become among the first in the North West to benefit from the Labour Government’s plans for school breakfast clubs. Palace Fields Primary School is one of the schools now taking part in an initial rollout which offers 30 minutes of free childcare.
Cllr Dave Thompson said, “This is going to make parents’ lives easier and more affordable, while giving kids opportunity for a free healthy breakfast before the school day starts. Giving chance to ensure children started the day ready to learn.”
Dave, who was a Governor of the school for many years, continued, “I am looking forward to the day this is rolled out to the other local schools in the ward. Labour campaigned on a promise of free breakfast clubs in primary schools and later tripled funding to £30m so the start made at Palace fields Primary is superb to see.”
